So I recently recived some sad news. Yeah even tho I was not big in the community the sad fact of the matter is that UkGameNews is closing. Sad news today ... And that Liverpool may not even get top half of the table! .. Wait that's AMAZING news. But it is such a shame when small communities cant afford to stay alive because of all the big named groups such as Kotaku etc.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory

This is pretty much the easiest thing in the world for me to decide right now. Hands down it is Chaos Theory. It stands head and shoulders against the rest of the game series. I mean this game is just amazing. And at the time was THE highest rated xbox game. Another huge plus for this game quite simply was multiplayer. I was one of the thousands that were very weary of this. It was something that would either be absolutley amazing or a big pile of dog crap. It was thankfully the first!

Burnout

Burnout: Takedown

Yet again another easy one. Burnout Takedown was head and shoulders above the rest. Yes I still enjoy the other games from this amazing series but my favourite has to be Takedown. The game just played so well and it was just simply an amazing game. Way a head of its time. It is a bit of a shame that Revenge was as poor as it was. I am just glad that Criterion made a great come back with the sandbox Paradise. But the sad thing is that Takedown is still the superior game.

Halo

Halo: Combat Evolved

Well the good thing about these games is that it’s a pretty solid series. As much as I bloody hate Bungie at times the game series has always been solid. I want to say that my favourite is Halo 3 soley for its online but the big rip off that it was means that Halo: Combat Evolved is the better game. It’s just a shame that they had the bloody flood and them terrible libary levels. I really hope Bungie learn from the mistakes that they have made. Another pet peeve tho is that every single enviroment is the EXACT same as the last one.

Street Fighter

Street Fighter II

Please bear with me whilst I weap gently writing about this next one. When I was a kid it was all about the N64 and the snes etc. We use to always do winner stays on with this. It was just some of the most amazing fun you could have. I even remeber the no Dhalism rule. But that is not the sad part. The sad part is that Cammy White is not in this version. Also that this SHOULD be Street Fighter IV. SFIV was going to bring me back to my old days but it didnt. It got boring. I started to hate it and found it absolute tedious how cheap the boss is. Maybe its just old age or maybe I just prefer SFII. SFII was picked simply because it is easily the most superior game out of the Street Fighter Series. Some of the most fun you can have with you and a few mates.

Zelda

The Legend of Zelda – The Ocarina of Time

Call me cliche. Call me whatever. But the thing that is diffrent from all the FFVII rabid fanboys and this game is simply that Ocarina IS an amazing game. It’s amazing sauce. This game rocked my socks as a kid. If it was only me alone it would be this or Mario 64. Tho easily this was my preferd. I never really understood the game that well till I got older but when I was younger this game rocked. It’s much better than the rest of the series. I am not even a fan of the new Nintendo ones. The game just played so much better than the others. Maybe it was from the technology. Maybe it’s because it’s the first I played. Either way I love it.

Call of Duty

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

What? You expected otherwise? This game is great. Yes it is a run and gun game and not my favourite type of game. But based around the rest of the series this game is what allowed the series to break free. With the stuff used and a great online experince whats not to love. It’s just a shame it took the companies this long to make such a solid title.

Grand Theft Auto

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas

GTA 3 – Great fun, bit on the harder side.

GTA VC – Cake walk that was fun!

GTA SA – The best of both worlds. That is why I picked it. Great story and great game play. I can not remeber how many hours I have wasted playing that game at all. I remeber spending around £60 just renting that bloody game. The game is easily the best GTA game and right up there for one of the best PS2 games made.

Red Faction

Red Faction: Guerilla

Ok so the first ones had the ability to destroy stuff and bla bla but they didnt have the tec. Or a confident company. Next came Guerilla. Made pretty much to play the same as Saints Row 2 with the gangs being on Mars and total destruction avalible. This is one hell of a great sand box game. You can destroy pretty much ANYTHING which is an insta plus.

Hitman

Hitman: Blood Money

This is a series of stealth games that goes from strength to strength. Each one in my eyes being better than the one before it. I found this game just to be so much fun tho the only trouble with the series is that the games are geniunley short each time. Fingers crossed that with the next one they follow the tradition of strength to strength!

Rhythm/music games [Rock Band vs Guitar Hero]

Rock Band 2

Ok so that one was easy. Let’s be honest here. They are both a good series. But hands down Harmonix is the much better dev. Rock Band games are just great. The whole idea that I can play ANY song from ANY Rock Band disc that I wish to save to my hdd with just the rock band 2 disc? That sir is full of win. That is why I love Rock Band 2. They also fixed my only hate of Rock Band, no online world tour mode. Made this game a really solid addition and head and shoulders above the rest!

Operation Flashpoint 2: Dragon Rising
Release Date - 9/10/09

Operation Flashpoint 2 is the follow up to the ultra realistic Operation Flashpoint. This is a first person tactical fps game based on the real island of Skira with a make believe war. But the trouble is .. Blood Americanized. Fucking English companies.

Brutal Legend
Release Date - 16/10/09

This game looks simply amazing. Coming from the guy that did Grim Fdango and Psychonaughts Tim Schafer looks to have made another simply amazing game. Probably will be .. The sleeper hit of the year. If you like story based games with brilliant comedy you WILL want this title.

Assassins Creed 2
Release Date 20/11/09

Ok so the first one was bloody marmite. You either loved it or you hated it. Either way it still shifted 6 million copies and made it worth with a follow up! Which looks to be a LOT better than the first. Yeah they wont shift the same 25% of consoles owned area but they wont need to as a lot more people own consoles these days. Don't base whether or not you buy this based on the first. Base it on if you want a good solid story based game or not.
